Kevin Karch
Kevin Karch is a veteran software developer and entrepreneur with over 50 years of experience spanning IBM mainframes, early personal computers, and modern AI-assisted billing systems. He is the co-founder and Software Architect of K&K Medical Billing Systems, one of New York’s most established medical billing software and services firms.
Kevin began his career in the late 1960s at Grumman Aircraft in Bethpage, NY, working on IBM System/360 mainframes. Rising from operator apprentice to lead operator, he gained early experience with virtualized systems, JCL automation, and enterprise computing before transitioning into COBOL programming in the early 1970s.
In 1974, Kevin partnered professionally and personally with fellow programmer Sue Karch. Together, they embraced the emerging microcomputer era, developing healthcare software on the IBM PC. Their breakthrough project, automating the HCFA-1500 insurance form, led to the founding of K&K Medical Billing Systems in 1981.
While managing large-scale system transitions as Software Manager at Brooks Fashion in Manhattan, Kevin continued to expand K&K through professional referrals and industry associations, including the New York Chiropractic Association. The company steadily grew into a national presence through conferences, seminars, and word-of-mouth adoption.
Over time, K&K evolved into a full-service medical billing provider, specializing in New York Workers’ Compensation and No-Fault claims. Its reputation is built on technical precision, regulatory expertise, and long-standing relationships with physicians and attorneys.

Sue Karch
Susan Karch is a graduate of Nassau Community College with a degree in Computer Science and Data Processing. A consultant and programmer by training, she helped design and develop Practice Made Perfect (PMP), K&K Systems’ medical billing and practice management platform, and continues to shape how the software supports day-to-day provider workflows.
Susan’s consulting spans the full revenue cycle: analyzing billing and coding, tightening documentation, optimizing accounts receivable, and mapping processes that maximize reimbursements. She is particularly experienced in New York No-Fault and Workers’ Compensation cases, where precise forms, timelines, and payer rules are critical to successful outcomes.
Beyond client work, Susan has extensive experience with health-provider audits and computer forensics investigations performed for the FBI and the U.S. Department of Justice. She has also served for more than 15 years on the Advisory Board of Branford Hall Career Institute, assisting with the medical billing curriculum and mentoring students, regularly offering externship opportunities that help candidates earn accreditation and launch their careers.
